Suffering from headaches doesn't have to be the norm.

Headaches are affecting millions daily. There are about 39 million Americans suffering from chronic migraines, that number is even larger when you consider those who have chronic tension and other headaches. Some of these headaches, especially migraines are debilitating; in fact, 90% of people who suffer from migraines lose normal functionality. This loss equates to an estimated $13 billion in lost productivity every year in the US.

Headaches are a major pain. So we ask ourselves, why do so many people continue to suffer from headaches, and what can be done about it?

Headaches can be difficult to effectively treat. Oftentimes conventional medicine approaches headache therapy with something designed to address the pain and other symptoms but without effectively solving the root problem. It is sort of like putting more air into a tire with a known leak, rather than repairing it. However, unlike a leaky tire with one solution (patch the hole), headaches have different solutions based on their different causes.

While we know headaches are caused by stress in the body, but the type of stress (mechanical, emotional, nutritional), determines how we treat them. Three different people who all suffer from similar headaches, may require three different treatment approaches because each one may suffer from a different form of stress. A one-size fits all therapy like an over-the-counter pain reliever can’t be a solution to all three.

We find headache solutions by understanding the source of the stress and what each type does to the individual.

Here are some examples:

  • Mechanical source headache: whiplash or sitting with poor posture at a computer every day is

  • Emotional source headache: suffering a significant loss or struggling with a demanding job

  • Nutritional source headache: eating the wrong types of food or not digesting your food well

Headaches can form in different ways so the approach to treating them needs to be different as well. You don’t have to be a headache statistic. Let’s identify the source of your stress and tailor a treatment to support your body in the specific way it needs.
